In a tri-match with Greenville &
Coldwater the Redskins fell short and finished 3rd at
the Greenville Country Club. Greenville took the team honors firing a 186 along with the medalist honors coming from Jalyn McCalley firing a 42. Runner up medalist honors also came from Greenville for Alyssa Aeteler with a 46. Coldwater finished second with 232 and falling one stroke behind was the Redskins with 233. Leading the way for the 'Skins was sophmore Kristina Kessen with a 51, junior Janelle Allen with a 59, senior Kelsey Anthony with a 60 and sophmore Katy Keckler with 63. Playing tonight but not scoring was Audrey Fisher and Morgan Adkins. "We did not hit the ball very well tonight. I saw a lot of mis-shots coming from the ladies that we have not seen in a while, causing a lot of big numbers. Some of that comes from not getting in much range time, since we have been at so many matches these past 2 weeks. We have a good opportunity this week to get on the range at least 3 times and really work on our fundamentals of our swings again. However, that is how our season goes, lots of matches in a little time period with not a lot of practice time. The ladies know that, we just need to make better adjustments when while we are playing so that we can minimize the mistakes." "We did have a great night in putting though. We have been really working on fewer putts on the greens and tonight we did that. Three of the ladies were under 20 putts which is a short term goal for us and we acheieved that. Unfortunately for us, our "long game" was not at it's best. Golf does that to you sometimes. We know we need to get back to working hard at our practices and get re-focused for LCC on Wednesday, our first home match. We are excited to finally play at WCC for the first time this season and we want to be ready for it." "Again, Kristina has been super steady for us in the scoring. She has really taken hold of the leadership of our number one player well especially being a sophmore and handling school as well. I still think there are about 4-5 shots she can drop with a little more time and practice and once that happens, I think she will take off." We are back at home Wednesday at 4pm with LCC... |
